We all have a call

My girls have the privilege of attending The River Academy, a classical Christian school here in town. While the school is far from perfect, I am pleased about the education they are receiving. While the spiritual education of my children is my job (and I take that responsibility seriously) I'm glad to have the church and school reinforcing what we talk about at home.

I came home earlier this week and found the picture to the left hanging on the fridge. When I picked it up to take a closer look I noticed Katie's name on the back. I asked her to tell me about the picture and she told me that her teacher had encouraged them to draw a picture as he read a portion of scripture to them. While I'm proud of her good grades and artisitic ability, I'm most proud of the way that she is letting what she learns sink into her heart. The training of children (or anyone for that matter) does not guarantee immediate behavior change but I am becoming more and more comfortable leaving the results in God's hands. That sounds almost wrong to admit. Do I not trust God? If I'm honest with myself, there are times when God is just to slow for me and I step in give Him a hand. Certainly there are times when God asks us to act but I'm recognizing that there are also times when he asks to us be patient and loving while he does His work.

Where are you at today? Are you seeking out God and obeying his direction for you, or are you making things happen outside of God's will because somebody needs to do something? Lord, help me to seek you and abide in you. May my heart beat in rythm with yours and may I have ears to hear and join in your work when and where you call me!

Donavon, I too at times feel that God is taking to long so I need to step in to speed things up a little. But on the other hand do you think that God also thinks that we are taking way to long when He speaks and we have to think things out before we act?

thank you for your post Donavon. Just this week while visiting with my daughter and numerous family members, I was reminded by God's Spirit that HE IS capable of being God in someone's life. He uses whatever medium works best to speak and BE HEARD. I'm working hard at not running ahead of Him in my future but just trusting that each day I might be used of Him somehow.
